20 Dec 2023

The Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation (APHEA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Carlo Signorelli as its new President, effective 14th December 2023.

As an experienced leader with a proven track record in public health, Professor Signorelli – Director of the School of Public Health (Igiene e Medicina Preventiva) in Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan (Italy) - brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Agency. Professor Signorelli begins his term of office by stating that, “accredited schools and courses of public health play a pivotal role in training the workforce needed to strengthen public health systems. As we all know APHEA is committed to assuring and improving the quality of education and training activities. By aligning missions and strategies with the Agency’s membersthe Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) and the International Association of Public Health Institutes (IANPHI), APHEA will be able to ensure that our efforts complement each other to deliver the full potential for quality assurance in public health education”.

“I have the ambition for APHEA to become one of the foremost contributors to global and European public health education, courses, programmes, schools and academic institutions”

Along with Professor Signorelli, APHEA also sees the appointment of Professor Henrique Barros (Portugal) and Professor Colleen Fisher (Australia) to the Board of Directors. The entire APHEA community extends its gratitude to Professor John Middleton and Professor Mary Codd for their years of dedicated service as President and Treasurer respectively. Under their leadership, APHEA achieved significant milestones, and we wish them continued success in their future endeavours.

Please join us in welcoming Professor Signorelli to APHEA. For media inquiries or to schedule an interview, please contact the APHEA Office at office@aphea.be or by phone +32 466 900 013.
